Case Study: Transforming A Home In Hull
Over time, every home starts to feel somewhat faded and neglected, typically in areas that are difficult or impossible to realistically fix yourself.
A good example of this is your front door, which can often last decades in the right circumstances, but also can take a significant amount of weather damage that can leave the finish looking flaky, faded and beaten.
Besides this, some colour schemes that look highly contemporary when the home is built end up falling out of favour, but rather than spend a significant amount of time and money replacing the windows and doors, why not hire professionals to spray paint your front door?
This is what one homeowner in Hull asked us to do, and the spectacular results were a fifth of the cost of a replacement with potentially an even greater impact.
Reviving A Revival-Inspired Home
The house in Hull had a somewhat Tudor Revival-inspired aesthetic, with whitewashed walls and clear timber framing, window and door frames.
What was different and somewhat of an issue today was that the frames were painted in a fading brown, a colour which looked increasingly tired as the years wore on.
One option was a complete replacement, but this was a particularly expensive option that could not realistically be affordably undertaken, nor would it be necessary; given how long the frames and doors can last when taken care of, they did not need such an extreme solution to the problem.
What we could offer was a fifth of the cost, requiring far less time but making a huge positive impact on how the home looked.
2 Days, A Decade Of Difference
The first step was to head to the site. We travel nationwide so wherever you are we can come to you and will stay until the work is complete, but in this case, the trip from Hull to Leeds was made in a jiffy.
Next, we masked and protected the surrounding areas. This was a particularly vital part of the process, given that the exceptional whitewash on the walls needed to be guarded to maximise the beautiful look and stark contrast of the finished product.
Once the surrounding walls and windows are protected, our specialised process can get to work preparing to transform the appearance of the walls using a coating designed to protect against scratches and the weather. It also has UV protection to protect against sun damage.
After the surface is properly prepared, the spray painting can begin.
We use only 2K Selemix paint - in any colour, this paint comes with a paint manufacturer's guarantee on uPVC and composite for ten years and five for kitchens (against peeling, flaking and UV damage). No guarantee is given for wood - which we do explain to customers.
We make sure the area is well ventilated and precautions are taken to protect respiratory health at all times.
Once it was done, the results were night and day: the professional, beautiful finish on the windows, doors, porch and frames radically changed the look of the home.
