Case Study: Transforming A Doncaster Home

It can so often feel like making a significant change to your home can come with a big price tag, but that is not always the case, particularly if you focus on the biggest details and work with experts who specialise in respraying doors and windows.

Choosing the right experts can help guide you towards the most appropriate treatment for your home. This can not only revitalise the look of your home but also provide a refresh for a fraction of the price of the alternatives.

To explain more, here is a showcase of a beautiful recent example we completed in just two days.

Detailing In Doncaster

Our latest project was a house in Doncaster whose owners wanted to give their traditional stone brick home a lighter touch that better harmonised with the natural material than the darker Anthracite grey that clad the windows and door frames.

Instead, they opted for the grey-brown Mouse’s Back provided by Farrow & Ball, a lighter, more natural colour that perfectly harmonises with the lighter stonework thanks to its green base and its resultant response to a wide range of outdoor light conditions.

One option was to replace the flashing, classing, doors and window frames. However, this is not only inherently the more expensive option, but not every company can offer a finish in Mouse’s Back, which would make the replacement even more expensive as it limits your supplier options.

It is also typically unnecessary if the doors and window frames do not need to be replaced for functionality reasons; why replace when you can refresh and reuse for a fraction of the price?

Choosing Mouse’s Back allowed the house to stand out from the crowd without looking so different as to be ostentatious.

It also led to a unique change in approach; while most homeowners are choosing darker shades for their doors and window frames, like charcoal and Anthracite, this was a transition from a darker shade to a lighter one, which we were more than ready to handle.

Small Changes, Big Difference

If you look at the before and after pictures, the change is dramatic and provides a much better fit to the home.

Contrast is often excellent and Anthracite is a shade we do recommend to homeowners. But in this case, the darker window frames were somewhat lost amidst the more striking natural shade, whilst a lighter grey-brown brought out the best in the home.

Because we focused on the details, we provided a professional quality factory-finish result on site in just two days, including the masking and preparation process to protect the beautiful surrounding stone.

We managed to work exceptionally efficiently and thanks to our low odour, fast-drying paint, there was almost no disruption. By the time we completed the project, the paint had already mostly dried and the smell had dissipated.

This change cost 80 per cent less than a replacement, suited the style of the home better than most replacements would, and because it was undertaken on uPVC, we could offer our ten-year manufacturers' guarantee against peeling and UV damage, giving our homeowner peace of mind.
