3 Top Colour Trends For Kitchens In 2026

We’re entering the latter half of the year (somehow), so now’s the perfect time for anyone planning home improvements to look ahead and see what’s expected to be trending in the interior design world for 2026 and beyond.

It always pays to do as much research as you can before getting to work, putting together mood boards for each room so you can see what you like and what you don’t - and a great place to begin is looking at different colour palettes.

Your choice of colour will have a significant impact on both the look and feel of your living spaces, so it’s certainly worth taking your time, trying out different combinations and seeing how you feel.

Checking out some of the predicted colour trends for the year ahead can also prove particularly beneficial… so, with this in mind, here are just three of the biggest trends expected to be seen in kitchens the length and breadth of the country from next year onwards.

Which of these do you think would work for you?

Hidden Gem

If it’s mystery, sophistication and elegance you’re keen to embrace at home, then you might find all you’re looking for and more in Hidden Gem, a smoky jade variety of green that works incredibly well as either a bold accent colour or as a soft neutral if you want to drench the walls fully.

You’ll also find that it works well with a variety of other shades, including other neutral tones, white, gold - and even pink, if you’re feeling brave and want a burst of colour in the kitchen.

Purple Prose

While the interest in green interiors shows no signs of stopping any time soon, there’s a new contender vying for the top spot among discerning homeowners - and that’s Purple Prose, a beautiful plum that would work particularly well for anyone with a penchant for darker interior schemes.

This shade is just one of the top picks for the Dunn-Edwards colour experts, evoking playful sophistication and delivering a contemporary yet vintage aesthetic that would work well in all areas of the house.

Milky Lavender

If you prefer light and airy interiors, you might find what you’re looking for in Sherwin-Williams’ predictions for colours in 2026.

Their experts have compiled a palette called Frosted Tints that contains within milky lavender shades that are expected to be big news for kitchens next year, serving as a wonderful alternative to forest green and navy, which have been dominating our culinary spaces for the last few years.

If you’re keen to bring some colour into your home but don’t want to go too big or too bold, this shade (and others like refreshing greens and gauzy blues) would be a brilliant way to go about it.

Of course, these are only a fraction of the colours that are expected to pop next year… so take your time, do your research and see what catches your eye.
